Starting An Online Business Is Something That Many People Find Tough.
They find it tough because they really don’t understand the basics of what they need to do and because they don’t know what the key’s are for starting an online business. So that’s what I’m going to give you here.
You ar
e about to find out the 3 basic keys to having a successful online business. If you miss out on any of these three things, you’re going to be in trouble. So make sure that you incorporate and use all three of these in your online business.
1) The first key that you will need to learn and to master when starting an online business is traffic. Now what do I mean when I say traffic? I’m meaning the people that are coming to your site or sites are your businesses traffic. Without this traffic, your dead.
Now how do you get traffic back to your websites?
Well, there really is 2 ways to get people to come to your site. You either get them their for free, but it takes time or you can pay to get traffic to your site but this costs money.
I’m not going to go talk to much on generating traffic for free because I explain it so much in anouther post called “Want To Know How To Start A Online Business For Free???“. But let’s talk a bit about paid traffic.
If we’re paying for traffic, we’re basically trading a certain amount of money to place an ad somewhere online. From this ad, people should be coming back to our sites. This is a very powerful way to generate a lot of traffic for your online business.
There is one really important thing that we need to watch out for when doing paid traffic. You need to make sure you’re generating a profit from it. We will get into that a lot more in just a couple of seconds but you needed to hear this now. 
So the biggest and most common place to get paid traffic is from the search engines like Google or Yahoo. If you look at the right side of the search engines when you do a search, you will always see a section called “Sponsored Links”. This is where you can place an ad for people to find.
Think about it for a second. If your business is selling herbal diet pills (or anything else) and if you do your research, you will find that there are 9900 people every month looking for herbal diet pills every month in Google alone. If you spent the money and got an ad placed on the first page of Google, you will be getting a piece of that 9900 searchers every month coming back to your site.
This is great. You don’t have to be there and people are coming back to your site on total autopilot. It just costs money.
But which ever way you decide to go, Free Traffic or Paid Traffic, you will need to master this next part.
2) The second thing that you will need to master when starting an online business is conversion. Now what does that mean, conversion? It’s pretty simple. Your conversion is the rate of people that land on your site to the number of people that take what ever action that you want them to take. This could be to buy a product, become a lead, whatever. It’s just the percentage of people that do what you ask them to do.
A conversion is something that you’ve got complete control over because if something doesn’t convert, you just need to adjust what is written on your site or whatever you are wanting to measure.
Let me give you an example. Say you have an ad out there in Google and that ad gets shown 1000 times. (nice easy number to work with) If after those 1000 views of the ad you had 10 people click on the ad and go back to your site, you’d have a 1% conversion rate.
Now say that you spent some time and adjusted the ad and you now manage to get 15 people to click on the ad after another 1000 views. This means that you have a 1.5 % conversion rate. This is good.
So you need to always be improving on your conversions right from your original marketing piece all the way to when someone buys whatever you’re selling. This does take some time and it is an ever growing and improving skill but it’s a must if you want a successful online business.
Now let’s get into where the real money is made with online business.
3) The third area is where you can really propell when starting an online business and that is your follow up. Yes you heard me, your follow up.
See in the online world, people tend to think that they can just sell a product to someone and be done wit
h it. In my opinion, this is one of the worst mindsets that you can have. You paid time or money to get someone to your site, why would you not want to do your best to retain that person as a lead where you can build a better relationship with them.
This way, if you end up having a new product or service that will help these people, you don’t have to go find new people to sell this too, you already have them.
So you need to make sure that you have a way that you can always stay in contact with all of these people. I like to do this through email because it’s quick, easy, and fast. Plus there are already programs like GetResponse and Aweber that are completely designed to do this.
Again, the 3 keys that you must master when starting an online business is Traffic, Conversion, and Follow up. If you master these three things, you will end up having no problem in building a massive internet business.
